![]() In addition to our regular line of Huffman prints, which number over a thousand different subject matter, we are pleased to offer our customers a number of "vintage" Huffman prints. These are not L. A. Huffman "originals" which would have been produced personally by Huffman, but were made by Huffman's noted successor Jack Coffrin in his studio in Miles City 30 - 55 years ago. These prints are unique collector items - not just because of their age and the fact that they are Huffman photographs, but because they were made from L. A. Huffman's old glass plate negatives and the clarity of these prints is unexcelled. In addition, nearly all of these prints were made on Kodak double weight, Ektalure X paper that has not been produced by Eastman Kodak for approximately 20 years. The surface of Ektalure X paper has a rough texture that was made to simulate artist's canvas and was designed specifically for the application of hand tinting oils after the image was produced in the photographer's darkroom, but with the development and mass marketing of color film in the 50s and 60s which made it more affordable for the average photographer, interest waned in the hand tinting process. Only recently has there been a renewed interest in hand tinting. Coffrin's Gallery has been the only source of Huffman photographs printed on Ektalure X paper and the prints for sale here are the last ones in existence. These older Huffman photographs can be beautifully hand tinted then matted and framed or matted and framed just as they are whether in black and white or sepia (brown) tone. We presently have an inventory of approximately 300 of these "vintage" prints in about 180 different subject matter in various sizes (from 11" x 14" - 20" x 35") - too varied to list all on this web site.
